Leading People: the essentials
Context
When employees move up into a people management position, they almost invariably master the technicity and the content of their job. The expertise to manage people however calls for extra attention. They find themselves confronted with a new professional identity which demands a specific set of skills and attitudes. This program provides them with the essentials.
Objectives
At the end of this program participants will:
- Have a better understanding of their individual communication style.
- Have more insights in what the role of a people manager comes down to.
- Have the capacity to adapt a flexible leadership style.
- Have a differentiated view on what drives people and how they can create an environment that fosters both job satisfaction and performance.
- Have a set of tools to deal with difficult people management situations.
Approach
The program is highly interactive linking tools and models to the experience of each of the participants and applying them to their cases.
Short inputs are followed by skill training, which is supplemented with specific and extensive feedback. Specifics measures are taken to guarantee the practical application of the learnings:
- High degree of involvement before, during and after the training.
- A specific strategy to involve their manager into their development process.
- Defining concrete development plans, including a structured follow-up process.
