Safety from the inside out

 

Context

Save behavior is a complex puzzle. A solid safety attitude is an essential piece. This is exactly where our original approach focuses on.

 

Objectives

At the end of the process employees will:

  • Internalized a safety attitude both on and off the job.
  • Spontaneously remind and help each other to work safe
  • Se strategies to manages the psychological processes that lead to unsafe behavior. 
  • Managers and supervisors will be able to use practical tools to keep the safety attitude alive in their teams.

 

Approach

There are three steps to this process:

  • Creating the framework: Managers get an overview of the whole of the process and its different steps. Underlying concepts will be passed on to them. They will get a clear picture of the role they can play in supporting their workforce in internalizing safety awareness.
  • Blue and or white collar employees are brought together in small groups for four sessions of 1,5 our each over timespan of three months.
  • Managers gather again to evaluate the process and to take commitments on how to make it sustainable.

 

Participants

It is recommended that the whole population of a site participates. To the extent that it fits practical requirements, group composition is functionally mixed as to make the exchange more diverse and inspiring.
